What I have learnt
From creating the recruitment advertisement, I understood how to align the salary information on my recruitment advertisement with industry standards to avoid ineffective recruitment ads due to low and attractive salaries or excessive salary costs due to overly high salaries. I learned to research online on platforms such as Glassdoor, a job and recruiting site, to find out about the average monthly salary of car dealership sales associates. Coupled with results from in-person research by asking around some of my friends and family who have had such an occupation previously, I did some basic mathematical averaging to determine a realistic yet attractive salary of a car sales associate which resulted in a figure of $4000 to $6000 per month.
By making a website, I managed to learn basic web page designing skills such as colour coordination and harmony which involves using colours that complement each other and suit the brand’s identity. Other than colour coordination, I learned how to break up and organise information into bite size portions for easier comprehension and readability. Furthermore, the designing of the recruitment poster helped me learn basic designing skills such as hierarchy where elements are organised to guide viewers' attention, prioritising key information.
Through the online interview, I learned the importance of key interviewing techniques, such as establishing rapport with the interviewee by starting with a friendly introduction and small talk to make the candidate feel comfortable while maintaining a professional yet approachable demeanour. Additionally, I observed that interviewees might occasionally struggle to respond to questions. This put me on the spot where I had to rephrase or break down the question and even follow with probing questions to improve comprehension and elicit better responses from the interviewee, helping me learn to be more versatile, adaptable and quick-thinking.

How I can apply my learning in the future
Understanding how to incorporate industry standard salary information into job advertisements will help in creating attractive, competitive offers that align with current market trends will aid me in my future job search by enabling me to find and compare industry standard salary figures, helping me determine if a company’s salary offer meets my expectations and industry standards before deciding to accept a position. In the aspect of an entrepreneur, this newly learned understanding will aid me in talent attraction as I will be able to decide on a salary that people will be attracted to work for while preventing myself from taking a toll on my own company’s financial resources.
The designing skills acquired from this assignment will significantly benefit my entrepreneurial pursuits by enabling me to market my products and services through compelling marketing campaigns and social media posts. Additionally, the basic web page designing skills learned will help me create an appealing company website for my entrepreneurial endeavours. These skills will also be valuable if I pursue a career in marketing, where creating visually appealing marketing materials is crucial for success.
The ability to craft a diverse set of interview questions will greatly benefit me in both interviewing and being interviewed. As an interviewer, this skill will enable me to assess candidates from multiple perspectives, uncovering their core competencies and problem-solving abilities, which is crucial for selecting the best fit for a role. As an interviewee, I can use this knowledge to anticipate and prepare for potential questions, ensuring I can respond confidently and competently. This preparation will help me present myself as a well-prepared, confident, and reliable candidate during actual interviews, making it more likely that the interviewer will find me a suitable and desirable candidate for the position I am interviewing for.

One area I could do better in my role-play interview
Generally, I feel that the role-play interview went rather well. However, one thing I could improve on is being more adaptable and responsive to the interviewee’s answers.
At times, I found myself sticking too closely to the scripted questions, which occasionally led to a less dynamic and conversational interview.
For example, I was particularly interested in how the interviewee achieved the status of “top salesperson” for multiple months in a row and wanted to assess the skills, characteristics, and mindset that contributed to this success.
Instead of being versatile and inquiring deeper about this, I stuck to my prepared questions, missing out on crucial and invaluable insights. In the future, I could work on being more adaptable and responsive by asking follow-up questions based on the interviewee’s responses and allowing the conversation to flow more naturally. This approach can provide deeper insights into the candidate’s qualifications and fit for the role.
Additionally, I can work on the fluency of my speech as there were times where I stuttered and stumbled over my own words, causing the interviewee to be confused and unable to comprehend what I was asking. While this is an issue, I do believe I handled it with confidence and professionalism and reiterated my question clearly
